Remi Tinubu Urges Cross River APC Women To Convert Political Support Into Votes

Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on women of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State to translate their political support into votes through intensified grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu made the call during the party's women's strategic stakeholders' meeting held in Calabar on Sunday, where she urged members to strengthen their presence across communities and polling units.

She challenged the women to organise supporters in their respective areas and embark on door-to-door campaigns, market outreaches, church gatherings and prayer meetings to promote the party's candidates.

The First Lady stressed that political commitment should be demonstrated through measurable electoral results, urging members to mobilise voters rather than rely solely on public expressions of support.

She also called for unity, reconciliation and cooperation among party members, advising them to put aside personal differences and work towards a common political objective.

Tinubu, who spoke alongside the Co-Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, urged the women to intensify their efforts and ensure voters understood the party's candidates across all levels of government.

She assured them of the party leadership's support, noting that their performance at the grassroots would demonstrate their commitment to its electoral objectives.

Also speaking, the wife of the Cross River State Governor, Bishop Eyoanwan Otu, urged APC women to forgive one another, resolve internal disagreements and remain committed to the party.

She encouraged members to continue contributing to the party's activities regardless of personal grievances or whether their efforts received public recognition.

Otu also highlighted her humanitarian interventions in the health sector, disclosing that her medical outreach programme had recorded 12 editions within three years, with more than 2,000 surgeries conducted.

She said the interventions were designed to support vulnerable residents and complement the state government's healthcare delivery efforts.

The meeting was organised by the Women Mobilisation Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council as part of efforts to strengthen the party's grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 elections.

It attracted the wives of political officeholders, female lawmakers, commissioners, local government officials, councillors, political appointees and other women stakeholders from the state's 18 local government areas.

The gathering also featured discussions on strategies for expanding the party's influence across polling units, wards and local government areas.
