Red Cross Donates 700 Cartons Of Therapeutic Food To Sokoto Govt

The Nigerian Red Cross Society, Sokoto Branch, in partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, has donated 700 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food to the Sokoto State Government.

The donation, made under the Malnutrition Emergency Appeal Programme, was formally handed over on Friday to the Sokoto State Primary Health Care Development Agency for distribution to targeted beneficiaries.

The commodities are expected to be distributed across Sokoto North, Sokoto South and Wamakko Local Government Areas, where the programme is currently being implemented.

A representative of the agency, while receiving the items on behalf of the state government, appreciated the Nigerian Red Cross Society and IFRC for their continued support in tackling malnutrition in the state.

The representative assured that the donated therapeutic food would be used strictly for its intended purpose and distributed to children identified as requiring nutritional support.

The Nigerian Red Cross Society said the donation formed part of its broader humanitarian intervention to reduce the impact of malnutrition among vulnerable children and strengthen community-based responses.

It reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Sokoto State Government, health authorities, development partners and other stakeholders to strengthen interventions aimed at preventing and treating malnutrition.

The organisation said it would continue to support vulnerable communities through humanitarian programmes designed to improve access to essential health and nutritional services across the state.
