Rashford Substituted After Feeling Discomfort, Carrick Says
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick says Marcus Rashford was substituted during the 2-2 draw with Everton after feeling a slight physical issue.
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has revealed that Marcus Rashford was substituted in the 70th minute of Sunday’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Everton after feeling “a bit of something”.
Rashford started the match at Hill Dickinson Stadium and was one of United’s main attacking threats before being replaced.
Carrick said the England international had performed well and looked sharp since returning to the team.
He added that Rashford created good opportunities and remained a threat throughout his time on the pitch.
United twice took the lead through Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Šeško, but Everton equalised on both occasions, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles scoring a late goal to secure a point for the hosts.
Carrick admitted the result was disappointing, saying it felt like a defeat after United had been so close to securing all three points.
The United manager also acknowledged the team's defensive problems, noting that they had conceded twice in each of their opening three league matches.
He said United needed to concede fewer goals to improve their chances of winning matches.
Carrick also praised the understanding between Rashford and Luke Shaw, describing the pair as particularly dangerous down United’s left flank.
