Rangers Rout Celtic 3-0 to Reach Scottish League Cup Semis
Rangers defeated Celtic 3-0 at Ibrox to reach the Scottish League Cup semi-finals, with Dan Neil scoring twice and Kevin Kelsy adding another goal.
Rangers secured a place in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals after a dominant 3-0 victory over arch-rivals Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday.
Dan Neil opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a clinical finish from the edge of the area, giving Rangers the lead in the first Old Firm encounter of the season.
The goal was Neil’s first for Rangers since joining the club from Sunderland during the close-season.
Rangers doubled their advantage in the 59th minute when new striker Kevin Kelsy fired home his first goal for the club.
Neil completed his brace in the 75th minute with another fine finish to seal a convincing victory for Rangers.
The result was particularly significant for Rangers manager Derek McInnes, who secured his first Old Firm victory since taking charge of the club.
Celtic struggled to match Rangers’ intensity and attacking threat throughout the encounter, producing little response after falling behind.
The match was played without Celtic supporters after authorities imposed restrictions on away fans following previous crowd incidents involving the two clubs.
Rangers will face Aberdeen in the semi-finals, while Hearts will meet Hibernian in the other last-four tie.
The semi-final matches are scheduled to take place at Hampden Park during the weekend of October 31 and November 1.
