Raheem Sterling to Face Court Over Dangerous Driving Charges
Former England winger Raheem Sterling has been charged with dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation and failing to provide a specimen following a single-vehicle crash on the M3 motorway in Hampshire. He is due to appear before Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on September 15.
Former England international Raheem Sterling will appear in court next month after being charged with dangerous driving and other offences following a motorway crash in Hampshire.
The 31-year-old was charged with dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation and failing to provide a specimen.
The charges relate to a single-vehicle collision involving Sterling’s Lamborghini on the M3 southbound, near the Minley Interchange, on May 28, 2026.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said no other vehicles were involved in the crash and no injuries were reported.
Sterling was arrested following the incident and later released on bail while police continued their investigation.
He is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on September 15.
Police had initially investigated whether Sterling was driving while unfit through drugs, but that allegation is not among the charges now brought against him.
Sterling is currently without a club after leaving Dutch side Feyenoord at the end of last season.
The former Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea winger won four Premier League titles with Manchester City and made 82 appearances for England between 2012 and 2022.
