Radda Cites Tinubu’s Political Ties, Seeks Katsina Support for 2027 Re-election
Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has pledged the state’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing the President’s longstanding political relationships with prominent leaders from the state. Radda made the commitment while receiving an All Progressives Congress delegation led by former Zamfara governor Abdulaziz Yari.
Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has expressed confidence that the state will support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections, citing longstanding political relationships between the President and prominent leaders from the state.
Radda made the declaration on Monday while receiving a delegation led by former Zamfara State Governor and Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, who visited Katsina to mobilise support for Tinubu.
Yari’s visit included engagements with traditional institutions in Katsina and Daura as part of efforts to strengthen support for the President ahead of the election.
Radda said the delegation had completed its visits to traditional rulers to explain the President’s vision and seek their backing for his re-election.
“He was here to canvass for votes. He has gone around to visit the traditional institutions to explain to them the mission and vision of Mr President and his intention for this country,” the governor said.
He expressed optimism that the engagements would translate into electoral support, adding that his administration would work towards securing victory for Tinubu in 2027.
Radda described the reception accorded to the delegation as encouraging and claimed that residents had responded positively to the campaign.
He also said traditional rulers visited by the delegation had pledged their support for the President, whom they regarded as having close ties to Katsina.
Explaining the basis of the relationship, the governor said Tinubu had maintained longstanding political connections with leaders from the state and supported their political interests.
He referred to Tinubu’s relationship with former President Muhammadu Buhari, who hailed from Katsina, and his political association with the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
According to Radda, these relationships have contributed to the political bond between the President and the state.
Katsina remains an important political constituency for the APC, having produced Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023.
The visit forms part of broader mobilisation efforts by the ruling party as political actors prepare for the 2027 general elections, with campaigns increasingly focusing on securing the support of state leaders, traditional institutions and grassroots networks.
