Putin Orders Three-Day Halt in Kyiv Strikes for Trump Envoys’ Visit

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a halt to strikes on Kyiv for three days from midnight Saturday, coinciding with the planned visit of US President Donald Trump’s envoys to the Ukrainian capital.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin had ordered Russian forces not to strike Kyiv during the three-day period to facilitate the American delegation’s visit.

The order came as US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow on Saturday for talks aimed at reviving efforts to end the war in Ukraine.

The envoys are expected to travel to Kyiv on Sunday for discussions with Ukrainian officials as part of the Trump administration’s latest diplomatic push.

Peskov also confirmed that Witkoff and Kushner would meet Putin during their stay in Moscow.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had earlier said Ukraine would also suspend airstrikes during the American delegation’s visit and urged Russia to reciprocate.

The temporary pause comes amid intensified Russian and Ukrainian drone and missile attacks, with recent strikes causing casualties and damage across Ukraine.

The US delegation’s mission is focused on exploring a possible path towards ending the conflict, although major disagreements between Moscow and Kyiv remain over territory and Ukraine’s future security arrangements.
