PTAD Offsets ₦18.96bn BEC Arrears to 3,958 PHCN Pensioners
PTAD has completed payment of ₦18.96 billion in Back-End Computation arrears to 3,958 eligible PHCN pensioners under the Defined Benefit Pension Scheme.
The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate has completed the payment of outstanding Back-End Computation arrears to 3,958 eligible pensioners of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria.
PTAD said it disbursed ₦9.476 billion as the outstanding 50 per cent balance of the arrears owed to the affected pensioners under the Defined Benefit Pension Scheme.
The latest payment followed an earlier disbursement of ₦9.482 billion made in June 2026, representing the first 50 per cent tranche of the BEC arrears.
The two payments brought the total amount disbursed to ₦18,958,199,952.27, fully settling the BEC arrears owed to the affected PHCN pensioners.
PTAD described the settlement as a significant step towards resolving outstanding pension liabilities and protecting the entitlements of pensioners covered by the Defined Benefit Pension Scheme.
The Executive Secretary of PTAD, Tolulope Odunaiya, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring that every eligible pensioner receives all benefits legitimately due to them.
She said the years of service and sacrifices made by senior citizens would continue to be recognised, while initiatives aimed at protecting their welfare and promoting dignified retirement would be pursued.
PTAD said the Federal Government would continue to address outstanding pension liabilities through the directorate and ensure that retirees who served the country receive their legitimate entitlements.
