Power Outages: Affected Generating Units to Return Within 48 Hours — Tegbe
Power Minister Joseph Tegbe says affected electricity generating units are expected to resume operations within 48 hours as efforts continue to restore supply.
The Minister of Power, Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, has assured Nigerians that electricity generating units affected by recent disruptions will return to operation within 48 hours.
Tegbe gave the assurance amid widespread power outages reported across parts of the country, which have affected electricity supply to homes, businesses and industries.
The minister said efforts were underway to address the operational challenges responsible for the disruption and restore generation capacity to the national grid.
He explained that relevant agencies and operators were working to resolve the problems affecting the generating units, adding that the government was monitoring the situation to ensure electricity supply improves within the stated period.
The disruption has renewed concerns over the stability of Nigeria’s electricity supply and the recurring challenges affecting power generation and distribution.
Nigeria’s electricity sector relies on generating companies, transmission infrastructure and distribution companies working together to deliver power to consumers. A breakdown at any stage can affect the amount of electricity available to households and businesses.
The minister’s assurance comes as the Federal Government faces pressure to improve electricity generation, strengthen grid reliability and address persistent supply challenges.
Tegbe said the government remained committed to restoring stable electricity supply and resolving the issues responsible for the latest outages.
Consumers are expected to monitor updates from the Ministry of Power and electricity distribution companies as efforts continue to restore affected generating units.
