Portable Demands DNA Test Before Child Support for Ashabi’s Children

Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has demanded DNA tests for his two children with actress Akinyanju Omobolarinde, also known as Ashabi Simple, before taking responsibility for their upkeep.

Portable made the demand on Friday through social media, saying he wanted the paternity of the children established before providing further financial support.

The singer said he did not trust Ashabi and questioned the paternity of the children, arguing that their physical resemblance to him was not sufficient to establish that he was their biological father.

He also questioned Ashabi’s movements during their relationship, alleging that she sometimes stayed away from their home for several days because of film shoots.

Portable said the children should be taken to a hospital for DNA testing before he would accept responsibility for their upkeep.

The demand followed an ongoing dispute between the singer and Ashabi over the financial support and welfare of their children.

Ashabi had alleged that between January and September, Portable gave N200,000 towards the upkeep of the two children. She also claimed that she had paid their school fees for three terms and had been responsible for feeding and clothing them.

She called on the singer to take greater responsibility for the children’s welfare, saying she had given him sufficient time to do so.

Portable, however, maintained that he wanted the paternity issue settled first. In a voice note circulated online, he reportedly told Ashabi that she should either take care of the children herself or hand them over to him.

The disagreement has continued to play out publicly on social media, with both parties sharing messages and allegations concerning their past relationship and the welfare of the children.

The paternity of the children has not been independently established, and no DNA test result has been reported.
