Police Seal Fake Alcohol Factory, Arrest 48-Year-Old in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has sealed an alleged fake alcohol production facility and arrested a 48-year-old man in connection with the operation.

The suspect was reportedly arrested during a police operation following information about the production and distribution of adulterated alcoholic beverages in the state.

Police personnel reportedly raided the facility, where they discovered materials and equipment allegedly being used to produce and package counterfeit alcoholic drinks.

The operation was carried out as part of efforts by the command to tackle the production and circulation of fake and potentially harmful consumer products across Lagos.

Items recovered from the facility were taken into police custody as investigations continued into the source of the materials and the distribution network allegedly connected to the operation.

The arrested suspect is expected to assist investigators in establishing the extent of the activities at the facility and identifying other individuals who may be connected to the alleged production and distribution of the products.

The police said the operation followed intelligence gathering and surveillance aimed at identifying locations allegedly involved in the manufacture of counterfeit alcoholic beverages.

Authorities have continued to warn residents against consuming alcoholic products from unverified sources, particularly drinks sold without proper labelling or regulatory approval.

Counterfeit and adulterated alcoholic beverages can pose serious health risks, especially when they contain unsafe substances or are produced under uncontrolled conditions.

The police said the sealed facility would remain closed while investigations into the alleged activities continued.

The suspect may face charges after investigators conclude their inquiry and determine the applicable offences.

The Lagos State Police Command also urged members of the public to provide credible information about locations suspected of being used for the production, storage or distribution of counterfeit products.

The latest operation forms part of broader enforcement efforts targeting illegal manufacturing activities in Lagos, particularly those involving products that could endanger public health.

Police authorities said investigations would continue to determine the full scope of the alleged operation and whether additional arrests would be made.
