Police Extract Former Minister's Sister and Twin Sons in Midnight Ibadan Raid
The Oyo State Police Command has safely rescued the younger sister of former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu and her 12-year-old twin sons from an Ibadan hideout, killing two kidnappers and arresting two others during the operation.
The high-profile kidnapping crisis that gripped Oyo State has come to a successful end after operatives of the Nigeria Police Force launched a late-night tactical rescue operation in Ibadan. Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, was safely recovered alongside her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul. The family had been violently intercepted and abducted by armed men on Wednesday morning, 3 June 2026, whilst on their routine school run from their residence in the Elewura-Challenge area of the state capital.
The successful extraction followed a meticulous electronic tracking operation. Intelligence teams successfully trailed the getaway vehicle used by the syndicate, eventually tracing the hostages to a hideout in the Oleyo axis of Ibadan. In a highly calculated move, the main gang members had left a small detachment of guards behind to monitor the family while they went to lodge at a local hotel, giving tactical squads the perfect window to close in. During the intense encounter, police forces neutralized two of the armed guards on-site and successfully arrested two other suspects who were attempting to secure the perimeter.
Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, formally confirmed through the former minister’s media team that the three victims were rescued entirely unharmed. Representatives for Chief Adelabu, who is also a leading All Progressives Congress gubernatorial aspirant for 2027, expressed profound gratitude to the security forces, media houses, and regional political associates for their immense solidarity throughout the distressing three-day ordeal. The rescued mother and her sons have since been cleared by medical professionals and safely reunited with their extended family.
