The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers following an attack on residents of Birshi Gandu, on the outskirts of Bauchi metropolis, and recovered stolen valuables worth millions of naira.
The arrests followed a distress report and a coordinated operation involving police operatives and members of the community, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib.
Habib said four residents, comprising two men and two women, reported at the E-Division Police Station on October 17, 2026, that three armed men had invaded their compound, which houses Cozy Resort Hotel, while they were asleep.
The assailants, reportedly armed with knives and machetes, allegedly stole several electronic devices and personal belongings, including Samsung Galaxy S22 and S23 phones, a Redmi Note 14, iPhones, iPads, a Lenovo laptop, a Samsung tablet, power banks, AirPods, office identity cards and a driver’s licence.
Following the report, operatives from the E-Division in Yelwa, working with community members who tracked one of the stolen phones, apprehended two suspects.
The police identified them as Abdulshakur Adamu, 20, popularly known as Dan Oga, from Jahun, and Rabiu Usman, 21, from Sabon Layi in Bauchi.
According to the command, both suspects confessed to their alleged involvement during interrogation and disclosed that they had acted in concert with a third suspect, identified as Kabiru, also known as KB, from Birshi Gandu.
Kabiru remains at large, and the police said efforts were ongoing to locate and arrest him.
The command credited the arrests to cooperation between law enforcement officers and residents, whose assistance helped track the stolen property and identify the suspects.
The police have reiterated the importance of prompt reporting of criminal incidents and collaboration with security agencies in efforts to combat robbery and other offences.
Further investigations are expected to establish the full circumstances of the incident, recover any outstanding stolen property and facilitate the prosecution of those found culpable.
