Police Arrest Two Robbery Suspects in Delta, Recover Weapons
Delta Police arrested two suspects during a stop-and-search operation, recovering a pump-action gun, live cartridge and daggers, while confirming ongoing investigations into possible links to armed robbery activities.
The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a pump-action gun, live ammunition and other incriminating items during a stop-and-search operation.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Warri on Friday.
According to the statement, operatives of the Department of Operations (DOPS) Buffalo Team intercepted an unregistered blue Hijet minibus travelling from Anambra State into Delta State during a targeted operation near the Second Niger Bridge.
The suspects reportedly attempted to discourage officers from conducting a search and threatened to record the operation, but police proceeded with a full inspection of the vehicle.
The search led to the recovery of one pump-action gun loaded with a live cartridge and two daggers.
The suspects, identified as Ugochukwu Kendirim (25) and Odo Jude (27), were immediately arrested and taken into custody.
Preliminary investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the weapons and any possible links to criminal networks.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the officers for their professionalism and vigilance during the operation.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and crime prevention across the state.
