Peter Obi Marks 65th Birthday with Free Surgeries For 65 Children
Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has marked his 65th birthday by sponsoring 65 free surgeries for children at a hospital in Lagos.
Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has marked his 65th birthday by providing free surgeries for 65 children in Lagos.
Obi disclosed the initiative on Thursday through a post on his official X account, accompanied by a video showing him with the children and their parents or guardians.
The surgeries were successfully carried out at Mother Mary Hospital in Isolo, Lagos, with the procedures including adenotonsillectomy.
The procedure involves the removal of enlarged or chronically infected tonsils and adenoids, which can cause breathing difficulties, recurrent infections and sleep-related problems in children.
Obi said he attended the final follow-up clinic and appreciation programme at the hospital, where parents shared testimonies about improvements in their children’s health and quality of life.
He expressed appreciation to Dr Folaseye Adebayo and her medical team, the hospital management, the parents and other contributors who supported the initiative.
Obi said birthdays should provide opportunities to give back to society and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
The former Anambra governor said he was grateful that all 65 children underwent successful procedures and described the initiative as an opportunity to contribute to their wellbeing.
He also prayed for continued blessings for medical professionals and others dedicated to improving the lives of patients and their communities.
