PAP Sends Another 31 Scholars to UK for Postgraduate Studies
The Presidential Amnesty Programme has sent another 31 postgraduate scholarship beneficiaries to the United Kingdom, bringing the number of overseas scholarships deployed this year to 243.
Another batch of 31 postgraduate scholarship beneficiaries under the Presidential Amnesty Programme has departed Nigeria for the United Kingdom to begin studies at various universities.
The scholars departed Abuja on Friday and arrived in London. They were among 150 beneficiaries who attended a pre-departure briefing organised in August after being deployed by the PAP Administrator, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro.
Their departure followed that of another 54 beneficiaries who left Nigeria for the UK the previous week.
The latest batch will undertake postgraduate programmes in fields including forensic audit, construction engineering management, data science analytics, law, software engineering, oil and gas engineering, cybersecurity, global public health and fintech analytics.
Otuaro said the PAP had deployed a total of 243 overseas postgraduate scholarships in 2026.
He urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously, pursue academic excellence and conduct themselves responsibly throughout their programmes.
The PAP administrator said the beneficiaries were expected to justify the government’s investment in their education by excelling academically and acquiring skills that could contribute to the development of the Niger Delta and Nigeria.
He described education as an important tool for addressing human capital gaps and promoting sustainable peace, stability and socio-economic development in the region.
Otuaro expressed optimism that the investment in the education of young people from the Niger Delta would produce long-term benefits for their communities and the country.
He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for supporting PAP initiatives and commended the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for his contributions to the programme.
The administrator thanked stakeholders for their cooperation and reiterated his commitment to initiatives aimed at promoting peace, stability and development in the Niger Delta.
