The Oyo State Government has pledged to intensify intelligence gathering and strengthen collaboration among security agencies in the fight against kidnapping, cybercrime and other criminal activities.
The government said the renewed approach would focus on gathering actionable intelligence, improving information sharing and ensuring faster responses to emerging security threats across the state.
It stressed that intelligence remained critical to preventing crimes before they occur, particularly as criminal elements continued to adopt new methods and technologies.
The state government also called for closer cooperation between security agencies and residents, urging members of the public to provide credible information that could assist authorities in identifying criminal networks and preventing attacks.
Kidnapping and other violent crimes have remained major security concerns in parts of Oyo State, while the increasing use of digital platforms by criminals has also heightened concerns over cybercrime.
The government said addressing these threats required a coordinated approach involving conventional security operations, intelligence gathering, technology and community participation.
It assured residents that the state would continue supporting security agencies with the necessary cooperation and resources to improve the safety of lives and property.
The government further urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the appropriate security authorities.
It said the strengthened intelligence drive was part of broader efforts to maintain peace and security and create a safer environment for residents, businesses and investors across Oyo State.
