Oyo City Boy Movement Warns Members Against Supporting Opposition
The City Boy Movement in Oyo State has warned members against supporting opposition candidates while claiming allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that loyalty should extend to all the party’s candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The City Boy Movement in Oyo State has cautioned political groups and individuals against claiming affiliation with the All Progressives Congress (APC) while openly supporting candidates from opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The movement’s state director, Olufemi Onireti, stated this in a statement issued in Ibadan on Tuesday, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to the APC and its candidates at all elective levels.
Onireti said the movement’s loyalty was not limited to particular candidates, but extended to the party’s presidential, governorship and other electoral contests.
He maintained that members should demonstrate consistent support for the party rather than selectively backing candidates based on personal interests or political calculations.
According to him, supporting opposition candidates while presenting oneself as an APC loyalist raises questions about the sincerity of such political affiliations.
The director said the movement would not participate in arrangements that undermined the party’s interests or promoted candidates of other political parties under the guise of supporting the APC.
He reiterated that the group remained committed to the party and expected members operating under its name to reflect that position in their political activities.
Onireti also urged APC stakeholders and members of the public to distinguish between groups genuinely committed to the party and those whose activities suggested divided political loyalties.
He called on party-affiliated organisations to uphold discipline, unity and consistency as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
The movement’s warning comes as political groups across the country increase mobilisation efforts and organise grassroots structures in preparation for the forthcoming general elections.
Onireti also expressed appreciation to participants at the movement’s inaugural event held the previous week, acknowledging the support of members and stakeholders across Oyo State.
He specifically commended the state APC chairman, Moses Adeyemo, and the party’s state women leader, Felicia Opatunde, for attending the event and supporting the organisation.
He further praised the movement’s executives and members across the state’s various zones for their contributions to the event’s success.
The statement reiterated the movement’s position that political groups identifying with the APC should demonstrate their allegiance through consistent support for the party and its candidates.
