Oyo Assembly Passes N210bn Supplementary Budget
Oyo lawmakers approve N210bn supplementary budget, raising total 2026 financial provision above N1.1 trillion.
Oyo lawmakers approve N210bn supplementary funding, raising the state’s 2026 financial provision above N1.1 trillion.
The Oyo State House of Assembly has passed the Oyo State Supplementary Finance Bill, 2026, approving an additional N210 billion for the state’s 2026 fiscal year.
The bill was passed during plenary in Ibadan on Thursday following the presentation and adoption of the report of the House Committee on Finance, Appropriation and State Economic Planning.
The committee, chaired by Sunkanmi Babalola, considered the bill clause by clause before recommending its passage. Its review took into account submissions from the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning as well as projections contained in the state’s Medium Term Expenditure Framework, which had already been adopted by the House.
With the approval, the amount provided under the 2026 Finance Law rises from N892,085,074,480.79 to N1,102,085,074,480.79.
The supplementary provision will be drawn from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of Oyo State for the financial year ending December 31, 2026. The specific sources of the additional funds are contained in the schedule attached to the bill.
The development increases Oyo State’s total approved financial provision for 2026 to over N1.1 trillion, giving the administration additional resources to implement programmes and projects during the remaining months of the fiscal year.
The supplementary budget is expected to support critical government priorities, particularly infrastructure and public works, while providing funding for additional expenditure requirements across ministries, departments and agencies during the remainder of the fiscal year.
The initial budget stood at N892.09 billion before the supplementary provision was introduced.
The state government had said the additional funding was needed to accommodate requests from ministries, departments and agencies responsible for delivering key projects.
Following the committee’s recommendation, lawmakers adopted the report and passed the Supplementary Finance Bill, bringing the legislative process for the additional N210 billion appropriation to completion.
The approval means Oyo’s 2026 budgetary provision has now crossed the N1 trillion mark, placing the state’s total authorised spending at approximately N1.102 trillion, subject to implementation through the remaining months of the 2026 fiscal year.
The supplementary allocation will form part of the government’s spending framework through December 2026 as the administration continues implementing its development agenda across the state.
The government will implement the approved provision accordingly.
