Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu has alleged result manipulation during the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries in Oyo State.
Adelabu, a governorship aspirant, made the allegation on Thursday while speaking with journalists after casting his vote at his polling unit.
He was previously appointed minister under the administration of President Bola Tinubu before resigning to pursue his ambition of becoming governor of Oyo State.
Speaking to reporters, the former minister expressed concern over what he described as irregularities in several wards across the state.
“I must sound this note of warning that it is not this way in a lot of other wards,” he said.
He further alleged that there were reports of widespread misconduct during the exercise, including various forms of electoral infractions in different locations.
“In some wards, they conducted the election hours before the appointed time and wrote the figures they liked,” Adelabu stated.
He added that such practices, if confirmed, undermine the credibility of the party’s internal democratic process and called for proper review of the exercise.
Party officials are yet to issue an official response to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
