Oyo APC Assembly Aspirants Drop Grievances, Back Tinubu, 2027 Candidates

The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has reconciled most aspirants who contested its recent House of Assembly primary, with the aspirants agreeing to set aside their grievances and support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, as well as other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has reconciled most aspirants who contested its recent House of Assembly primary, with the aspirants pledging to work for the party’s success in the 2027 general elections.

The development followed reconciliation meetings convened by the party after protests and grievances emerged over the conduct and outcome of the primary election.

In a communique issued on Sunday, the Chairman of the Oyo State APC House of Assembly Reconciliation Committee, Alhaji Mufitau Adisa Gbayawu, said substantial progress had been made in resolving the issues arising from the exercise.

The committee said it engaged with aspirants who purchased nomination forms, as well as other stakeholders and party members who expressed interest in the electoral process.

It said most of the aspirants demonstrated maturity and sportsmanship by placing the collective interest of the party above their individual ambitions.

According to the committee, the reconciled aspirants pledged to work with one another and the party leadership to secure victory for the APC across the state’s 32 constituencies.

The aspirants also pledged their support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, as well as APC candidates contesting the Senate, House of Representatives and Oyo State House of Assembly elections.

Gbayawu said the committee met the aggrieved aspirants individually to hear their concerns and understand the issues that led to the protests.

He commended the aspirants for agreeing to move beyond their personal grievances and support the party’s collective objective ahead of the 2027 elections.

The committee also urged APC leaders, members and supporters to sustain the reconciliation process, avoid divisive tendencies and work towards building a stronger party in Oyo State.

The Oyo State APC Gubernatorial Reconciliation Committee also joined the process, with its Co-Chairman, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, appealing to members to remain united.

The APC governorship candidate in the state, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, welcomed the reconciliation, saying unity among party members was essential to securing victory in 2027.
