Oyebanji Reappoints SSG, Chief of Staff, CPS for Second Term

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has reappointed Professor Habibat Adubiaro as Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Oyeniyi Adebayo as Chief of Staff and Olayinka Oyebode as Chief Press Secretary (CPS).

The appointments were announced in a statement signed by Oyebode on Friday, October 16, following Oyebanji’s inauguration for a second term in office.

According to the statement, the three officials will retain their respective positions in the state government, with the appointments taking immediate effect.

Adubiaro will continue as Secretary to the State Government, a position central to coordinating government administration, policy implementation and communication among ministries and agencies.

Adebayo will remain Chief of Staff, supporting the governor’s office and coordinating executive activities, while Oyebode will continue overseeing official communications and media relations.

The reappointments constitute the first appointments announced by Oyebanji after he was sworn in for a second four-year term on Friday at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti.

The governor’s decision to retain the three officials follows the dissolution of the State Executive Council ahead of the inauguration. The dissolution affected cabinet members but excluded the SSG, Chief of Staff and CPS, who remained in their respective positions.

The transition also followed the termination of appointments of several political aides and the disengagement of some government agency heads and technical advisers as the first-term administration wound down.

Oyebanji was re-elected in the June 20, 2026, governorship election, according to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The governor is beginning his second term with a new administration following the conclusion of his first four years in office. Further appointments to other government positions may be announced as the administration takes shape.
