Oyebanji Credits Tinubu’s Policies for Ekiti Development
Ekiti Governor Biodun Oyebanji says President Tinubu’s economic policies have increased state resources, helping his administration advance development across key sectors.
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has credited President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies with supporting development in the state, saying federal reforms have increased resources available to state governments.
Oyebanji made the remarks in a statement issued on Saturday, October 17, following his inauguration for a second term as governor on Friday, October 16, 2026.
The governor expressed appreciation to Tinubu, the people of Ekiti State and other Nigerians for their support during his first term and the inauguration ceremony.
According to a statement published on the Ekiti State Government’s official website, Oyebanji said several milestones recorded by his administration would not have been possible without the President’s economic policies, which he said had freed up funds for subnational governments.
“ The various milestones attained during our first term would not have been possible but for the economic policies of the President that freed funds to the subnational governments,” the governor said.
He thanked Tinubu for his support for Ekiti State, adding that the Federal Government’s interventions had helped his administration pursue development programmes across key sectors.
During his first term, Oyebanji’s administration prioritised infrastructure, healthcare, education and human capital development. He said the state would build on the progress recorded and work to ensure that government investments deliver tangible benefits to residents.
The governor was sworn in for a second four-year term at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima representing Tinubu at the ceremony. Other dignitaries, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, governors, traditional rulers and political leaders, attended the event.
In his inaugural address, Oyebanji pledged to focus on job creation, agriculture, electricity, education, healthcare, infrastructure, industrialisation and youth development.
He said the success of his second term would be measured by the extent to which public investments improved living standards, reduced economic hardship and expanded opportunities for residents.
Oyebanji also called on Ekiti indigenes living within and outside Nigeria to contribute their expertise, investments and networks to the state’s development.
The governor urged residents to support his administration’s efforts to make Ekiti a model of governance, promising to remain accessible, listen to constructive criticism and work across political and social divides.
His comments reflect the state government’s position that federal economic reforms have helped create additional fiscal room for development spending. The longer-term impact of those policies will depend on how effectively public resources translate into improved services, jobs and household welfare.
