Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has urged women in the state to remain vigilant and focused on raising their children.

Otti made the call on Friday in Umuahia during the Abia Women August Delegate Conference 2026.

The governor described women as the foundation of the family, stressing the importance of their role in the upbringing of children.

He urged the women to remain focused and attentive to their responsibilities, noting that the upbringing of children begins with the woman in the home.

Otti also commended his wife, Mrs Priscilla Otti, for her interventions through women-focused programmes across the state.

He disclosed that 35 vulnerable women had benefited from the First Lady’s housing project, with plans underway to increase the number of beneficiaries.

The governor congratulated the participants for attending the conference and thanked God for preserving their lives.

He noted that not everyone who attended the previous year's meeting was present at the 2026 conference.
