OsunDecides2026: ‘Shame APC, We Are Winning Osun’ — Davido
Davido backs Adeleke’s victory claims as Osun results are sorted, counted and uploaded by INEC.
Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has expressed confidence that his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, will win Saturday’s governorship election.
Davido made the claim in a series of social media posts as sorting and counting of votes continued across polling units in the state.
The singer, who has openly supported the Accord Party candidate, claimed that the All Progressives Congress had suffered setbacks in some key areas, including the ward of former Osun State Governor, Bisi Akande.
“Their group chat don scatter! Baba Akande lost his ward. Gov Adeleke is cruising to victory. Shame APC. Osun no be Edo!” Davido wrote.
He also urged residents across the state to remain vigilant throughout the night, alleging that there could be attempts to manipulate the outcome of the election.
“I implore Osun people to stay vigilant all night and resist plans of Oyetola. Na we get Osogbo! Imole ti woleeeee,” he stated, referring to former Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
In another post, Davido expressed confidence in Adeleke’s chances and called on security agencies to remain deployed around electoral locations.
“We are winning, guys! Security agencies shouldn’t be withdrawn from electoral units,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission continued the sorting and counting of votes at polling units following the conclusion of voting.
As of 5:51 p.m. on Saturday, results from 1,695 of the 3,763 polling units had been uploaded to the INEC Result Viewing Portal, according to checks of the platform.
The election featured 15 governorship candidates, with Adeleke of the Accord Party, Bola Oyebamiji of the APC and Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress among the leading contenders.
Adeleke had earlier expressed confidence in victory after casting his ballot in Ede North Local Government Area.
Oyebamiji also expressed optimism after voting in Ikire, while Salaam raised concerns over alleged non-recognition of ADC agents in some parts of the state.
The electoral process remained ongoing, with collation taking place across the state’s 30 local government areas.
The commission had not officially declared a winner as of the time of filing this report.
