OsunDecides2026: Resident Raises Alarm Over Alleged Error in Accord Votes Record

An Osun resident, David Adesina, has raised concerns over an alleged error in the recording of results at a polling unit during Saturday’s governorship election, claiming that votes scored by the Accord Party were initially entered incorrectly before being corrected.

According to a video shared on Saturday by News Central TV via X, Adesina said the ballot papers were properly counted at the polling unit, with Accord recording 212 votes and the All Progressives Congress (APC) scoring 107 votes.

However, he alleged that a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who was observing the process subsequently entered “012” instead of the 212 votes recorded for Accord.

Adesina said those present immediately noticed the discrepancy and challenged the entry, insisting that the correct figure was 212.

“We said not 012 was supposed to be 212,” he said in the video.

According to him, the figure was subsequently corrected to 212 and signed by the relevant officials.

“Later I now change it to 212 and you now sign on it,” Adesina said.

The resident expressed concern over the possibility of subsequent alterations to the result and appealed for the incident to be brought to public attention.

“Please let all the world hear this so that later later they will not change it for us. Thank you and God bless you,” he said.

The allegation comes as voting and counting were conducted across polling units in Osun State on Saturday, with residents electing a governor for the next administration.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is overseeing the election process, with results expected to be announced at polling units before being transmitted for further collation at ward, local government and state levels.

The incident highlights the importance of accurate recording and transparent transmission of polling unit results, particularly during the ongoing collation process.

Political parties, candidates, observers and voters have continued to monitor the handling of result sheets and their subsequent uploading to INEC’s electronic result-viewing platforms.

As collation progresses across the state, stakeholders are expected to scrutinise the figures declared at polling units and ensure that the results transmitted for collation accurately reflect the votes cast by the electorate.
