OsunDecides2026: Adeleke Widens Lead With 368,361 Votes as Collation Continues
Ademola Adeleke Leads Bola Oyebamiji by 46,299 Votes as Osun Governorship Election Results Continue to Be Collated Statewide.
Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has widened his lead over the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the ongoing collation of results from the Osun State governorship election.
The latest figures show Adeleke with 368,361 votes, representing 51 per cent of the votes recorded so far, while Oyebamiji has polled 322,062 votes, representing 44.6 per cent.
The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, is in third position with 12,197 votes, representing 1.7 per cent.
The latest figures represent a significant increase from the earlier collation figures, which showed Adeleke with 177,572 votes against Oyebamiji’s 158,588 votes, as results from 303 of the state’s 332 wards were being collated.
The new figures indicate that Adeleke’s lead has increased to 46,299 votes, placing the incumbent ahead of his closest challenger as the collation process progresses across the state’s 30 local government areas.
Adeleke, who is seeking another term in office, contested the election under the Accord Party after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party. Oyebamiji is the candidate of the APC, while Salaam represents the ADC.
The election has been marked by reports of technical difficulties with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System at some polling units, as well as isolated incidents of tension and alleged electoral misconduct.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has continued the process of uploading polling-unit results to its Result Viewing Portal, IReV, while official collation proceeds through the established electoral structure.
Political parties and observers are expected to monitor the collation closely as additional results are received from outstanding areas.
Although the latest figures place Adeleke firmly ahead, the election has not been officially declared concluded in the figures presented, and the final outcome remains subject to the completion of the collation process and the official declaration by INEC.
The result will ultimately be determined by the final validated figures from all relevant polling units and collation centres across Osun State.
