Osun Election: ‘Politics Not Career, Get a Job’ — Davido Fires Back at Faleke

Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has criticised the lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke, following the controversy surrounding the outcome of the recently concluded Osun State governorship election.

Davido, in a post on his verified X handle on Sunday, told Faleke that politics was not a career and urged him to get a job.

The exchange followed an earlier disagreement between the singer and the lawmaker over an alleged attempt to challenge or overturn the result of the Osun governorship election.

Davido had previously called out Faleke over what he described as an alleged move to upturn the election result, which saw Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party secure re-election.

Faleke subsequently denied the allegation, explaining that his presence in Osun State during the election was to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

The lawmaker also rejected any suggestion that he had attempted to influence the electoral process, insisting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) could not be manipulated.

“I have never influenced or rigged before and I don’t plan to start now. Face your music while we face our politics,” Faleke had said.

Davido responded directly to the lawmaker, writing: “Politics is not a career. Get a job.”

The exchange has added to the political debate surrounding the Osun governorship election, which attracted significant attention from politicians, celebrities and political groups.

Adeleke was declared the winner of the election after polling 511,067 votes, defeating Oyebamiji of the APC, who scored 444,815 votes.

The result secured Adeleke a second term as governor of Osun State and has triggered wider discussions about the implications of the election ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Davido, who has openly supported his uncle, Adeleke, during the election campaign and after the poll, has continued to comment on developments surrounding the outcome.

The singer has also called for transparency in the electoral process and urged relevant authorities and voters to protect the integrity of polling-unit results.

Faleke, meanwhile, maintained that his role during the Osun election was to support his political party and its candidate, while denying any involvement in efforts to manipulate the result.
