The Osun State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement has unveiled Ibraheem Adekunle as its candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.

The candidate was presented at an unveiling ceremony in Osogbo, where the party also introduced candidates for other elective positions and urged members to mobilise support ahead of the polls.

Adekunle said his chances in the January 16, 2027 election would depend on his acceptance by voters rather than the strength of the political platform alone.

He expressed confidence in his grassroots connections and political structure across the 10 local government areas in Osun Central, saying these would support his campaign.

He urged residents to support candidates who were accessible and responsive, describing APM as a platform driven by young people.

The Osun APM Chairman, Adewale Adebayo, said the district needed a younger representative with the energy and ideas to serve its people. He described the turnout at the unveiling as evidence of support for the candidate and urged residents to vote for Adekunle and other APM candidates.

The representative of the party’s presidential candidate, Babatunde Tijani, also urged members to return to their constituencies and mobilise voters ahead of the 2027 elections.

Before emerging as the APM candidate, Adekunle was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and had been involved in distributing food palliatives to party members in Osun Central.

The PUNCH reported that he donated 3,000 bags of rice to PDP members in the district, with party leaders commending the gesture at the time.
