Osun ADC Governorship Candidate Promises 24-Hour Power Supply to Drive Growth

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for the August 15 election in Osun State, Mr. Najeem Salaam, has promised to deliver a 24-hour electricity supply as part of a broader economic transformation agenda aimed at driving industrial growth and creating jobs across the state.

Salaam made the pledge on Monday in Osogbo while unveiling his manifesto, describing reliable power as a critical foundation for economic development and improved living standards.

The former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly said his administration would leverage strategic investments, alternative energy solutions, and public-private partnerships to address power challenges and unlock the state’s economic potential.

According to him, Osun possesses abundant natural and human resources capable of supporting rapid development if supported by adequate infrastructure and effective governance.

“We believe that 24-hour power supply is possible through strategic investments, alternative energy solutions, and effective public-private partnerships,” Salaam stated.

He explained that uninterrupted electricity would attract investors, encourage the establishment of industries, and create thousands of employment opportunities for residents.

“When there is power, industries emerge, jobs are created, and families prosper. When families prosper, communities flourish. This is the future we envision for Osun,” he added.

Beyond power generation, Salaam outlined plans to transform agriculture into a major economic driver. He pledged to establish farm estates in the state’s three senatorial districts to boost food production, enhance food security, and position Osun as a regional agricultural hub.

The ADC candidate also promised to prioritise workers’ welfare by ensuring prompt payment of salaries and pensions. He said his administration would review the low-cost housing scheme and improve access to loan facilities for civil servants.

On healthcare, Salaam pledged to strengthen health services and improve access to quality medical care across the state. He also promised to invest in education, youth empowerment, and social intervention programmes.

As part of his social welfare agenda, he vowed to reintroduce the school feeding programme to support pupils and encourage school attendance.

Salaam further assured residents that security would receive significant attention under his administration through measures aimed at protecting lives, property, and territorial integrity.

Describing the manifesto as a practical roadmap for development, he said it represents a contract with the people of Osun State built on integrity, accountability, compassion, and a commitment to shared prosperity.
