Osun 2026: Why Adeleke Won — Elder Brother Deji

Governor Ademola Adeleke’s elder brother, Deji Adeleke, has attributed the governor’s re-election victory in the Osun State governorship election to prayer and divine intervention.

Adeleke was declared winner of the August 15 governorship election on Sunday after defeating his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking in a video recorded during Adeleke’s victory celebration on Sunday night, Deji said he had remained confident that his younger brother would win despite the political opposition and resources deployed against him.

According to the businessman, his confidence was rooted in his personal prayers, which he said he carried out privately without discussing them with anyone.

“I don’t discuss with anybody. I do it in the corner of my room. I do this every day. So, I was not worried. I had no doubt in my mind that Ademola will win. Ademola will overcome,” he said.

Deji said he regularly sought divine strength and protection, adding that he sometimes fasted three times a day as part of his private spiritual routine.

“I fortify myself with the power of the Almighty God every day. And the day that I fast, I’ll do it three times a day. And nobody knew. I don’t discuss with anybody,” he added.

Reacting to the opposition faced by his brother during the election, Deji dismissed the influence of political power and financial resources, insisting that no human force could overcome divine authority.

“Let them come with all the battalions, withdraw the Army, bring all the money from the Central Bank. Nobody is above God Almighty,” he said.

He further contrasted what he described as the opposition’s reliance on political connections with his brother’s reliance on God.

“He comes with his wickedness. He comes with the power that he thinks he has because he’s connected to the Presidency. But Ademola comes against them in the power of the Almighty God,” Deji said.

He also recalled praying specifically for Adeleke’s protection and victory, describing the governor as someone who expresses his faith through dancing and praise.

“He dances and praises your name. So, Lord Almighty, God, the owner of the universe, show up for him,” he said.

Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes to defeat Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.

The victory secured Adeleke a second term as governor of Osun State.
