Osimhen Drops to 5th in Africans MVP Ranking
Victor Osimhen drops to fifth among Africa’s most valuable footballers despite strong form and a €75m market valuation.
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has dropped to fifth position among Africa’s most valuable footballers, according to the latest Transfermarkt market-value rankings.
Osimhen, who was ranked Africa’s most valuable player in 2023, subsequently fell to second in 2025 and third ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. He is now valued at €75 million.
The Nigerian striker is currently behind Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande, valued at €90 million, while Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi, Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo and Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi are each valued at €80 million.
Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo is level with Osimhen at €75 million and completes the top six.
The decline in Osimhen’s ranking comes despite an impressive start to the 2026/27 season with Turkish champions Galatasaray.
The 27-year-old has scored four goals and provided one assist in his first two matches of the campaign, continuing the prolific form that has made him one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers.
Osimhen recently moved into third place on Galatasaray’s all-time foreign goalscorers list and remains a target for several clubs before the transfer window closes.
Arsenal have reportedly emerged as a potential destination, while Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are also monitoring his situation.
Despite his fifth-place position in Africa, Osimhen remains the most valuable Nigerian footballer and the most valuable player in the Turkish Super Lig.
Globally, he is ranked as the 20th most valuable forward, while among recognised centre forwards, he occupies eighth position with a €75 million valuation.
The Nigerian has scored 63 goals in 76 appearances for Galatasaray since joining the club permanently from Napoli.
His market value also reflects his status among Africa’s most expensive footballers. His move from Lille to Napoli was valued at about $91 million, while his permanent transfer to Galatasaray was reportedly worth $87 million.
Osimhen remains one of Nigeria’s leading attacking stars alongside Atletico Madrid winger Ademola Lookman, who is valued at €35 million.
