Only God, Tinubu Know What Will Happen in 2027 — Galadima

A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Buba Galadima, has said only God and President Bola Tinubu know what will happen in the 2027 presidential election.

Galadima made the statement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he discussed the political environment ahead of the election and the prospects of the NDC’s presidential ticket involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Responding to questions about whether he expected the 2027 election to be free and fair, Galadima expressed doubts over the political developments leading to the poll.

He alleged that opposition politicians had faced coordinated attacks but did not provide independent evidence to substantiate the allegations during the interview.

Galadima nevertheless expressed confidence in the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, saying he believed the pair could win if the election was conducted freely, fairly and transparently.

He also rejected concerns about divisions within the NDC, maintaining that key figures in the party remained united and were working together ahead of the election.

According to Galadima, Obi and Kwankwaso complement each other politically, describing their combination as a “healing ticket” for Nigeria.

He said the party was presenting the two politicians as a single ticket rather than as representatives of separate political interests, adding that the proposed administration would focus on national unity, public confidence in government and security.

Galadima also discussed the controversy surrounding promises by politicians to restore the petrol subsidy. He questioned whether voters should accept such promises without considering the previous positions and records of those making them.

He further criticised the Tinubu administration over what he described as continued spending connected to petrol support, questioning the meaning of the government’s “Energy Security Expenses.”

The NDC chieftain also raised concerns about reported political engagements involving Tinubu and the Independent National Electoral Commission, saying the opposition did not know what such interactions entailed.

As political parties prepare for the 2027 general elections, Galadima’s comments highlight continuing opposition concerns about the electoral process, while his support for the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket reflects the NDC’s stated political position ahead of the poll.

The 2027 presidential election is scheduled for January 16, with political parties expected to intensify their campaigns and mobilisation as the election approaches.
