Ondo Monarch Urges Indigenes in Diaspora to Invest in Akure
The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, has urged indigenes living abroad to invest in Akure, saying increased investment would drive development and create jobs for young people.
The Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, has appealed to indigenes of the community living in Nigeria and abroad to invest in Akure to support the development of the Ondo State capital.
The monarch made the call on Sunday during the inauguration of Baseline Event Centre in Akure.
Oba Aladelusi said the city was expanding and experiencing increased development, urging Akure indigenes in the diaspora to take advantage of the opportunities available in the community.
He assured prospective investors that Akure was safe and that their investments would be protected.
The monarch said increased investments would not only contribute to the physical and economic development of the city but also provide employment opportunities for young people.
He commended the management of Baseline Event Centre for investing in the community and assured investors that the palace would continue to support initiatives that contributed to Akure’s development.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Baseline Event Centre, Olusegun Odemakinwa, said the decision to establish the facility in Akure was driven by a desire to contribute to employment and economic activity in the city.
Odemakinwa said the centre would create opportunities for young people and professionals across the events and hospitality sectors.
He said the facility would provide platforms for young people to develop their skills, earn income and build sustainable careers.
He added that the centre would work with local businesses and service providers, including photographers, decorators, caterers, drivers, security personnel and technicians, to ensure that its economic impact extended beyond the facility.
Odemakinwa said the centre's goal was to become an institution that contributes meaningfully to the development of Akure.
