Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has sworn in the chairmen and members of the Ecological Funding and Management Commission and the Edo State Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Terry Igiebor was sworn in as Chairman of the Ecological Funding and Management Commission, with Prof. David Osifo as a member.

Dr Shittu Shaibu was also sworn in as Chairman of the Edo State Electricity Regulatory Commission, alongside Thomas Inegbedion, Abdulrask Abubakar, Alex Oniawu and Patrick Iluobe as members.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony at the Government House in Benin, Okpebholo congratulated the appointees and said their positions came with enormous responsibilities.

He particularly stressed the importance of the electricity commission to the state’s development, noting that several stakeholders had expressed interest in investing in the sector.

The governor urged the appointees to develop policies capable of attracting investment and improving electricity supply across Edo State.

He said the state could achieve its objectives in the electricity sector through cooperation, dedication and hard work.

“A lot of stakeholders are coming in; they are assuring us of coming to invest. If we have good policies in place that will drive the process, then we will have whatever we desire,” Okpebholo said.

Responding on behalf of the Ecological Funding and Management Commission, Igiebor thanked the governor for the appointment and described it as a privilege.

He pledged that the commission would work towards achieving the governor’s SHINE Agenda and ensure that the administration was proud of its performance at the end of their tenure.

Shaibu, speaking on behalf of the Electricity Regulatory Commission, also assured the governor that the members would bring their experience to bear on the development of the state.

He said their appointment was based on merit and pledged to contribute to making Edo a leading state in Nigeria.
