Former Delta State Governor and ex-Nigerian Olympic official Ifeanyi Okowa has commended Team Nigeria for displaying resilience and determination at the international sporting event in Budapest.
Okowa praised the athletes for their commitment to representing Nigeria and urged them to remain focused as they continue to compete at the highest level.
He said the performances of the Nigerian contingent demonstrated the talent and competitive spirit of the country’s athletes.
The former governor noted that competing on the international stage requires discipline, preparation and mental strength, adding that the athletes had shown these qualities in Budapest.
He encouraged Team Nigeria to build on their performances and remain committed to achieving greater success in future competitions.
Okowa also called for stronger support for Nigerian athletes, particularly through improved preparation, funding, training facilities and welfare programmes.
According to him, providing athletes with the necessary resources would help them compete more effectively against some of the world’s best competitors.
The commendation comes as Nigerian athletes continue to attract attention for their performances on the international stage.
Okowa said the determination displayed by Team Nigeria should inspire younger athletes and demonstrate that Nigerian sportsmen and women can compete successfully at major global competitions when adequately prepared.
He congratulated the athletes, coaches and officials involved in the campaign, while urging them to maintain the same level of commitment.
The former governor also stressed the importance of developing sports at the grassroots level to ensure a steady pipeline of talented athletes capable of representing the country in future international competitions.

He urged the contingent to remain united and focused, describing their fighting spirit as a source of pride for the country.
He expressed optimism that Team Nigeria’s efforts in Budapest would contribute to the continued growth of Nigerian sports and inspire more young people to pursue sporting careers.
