OK Movement Urges NDC, Obidients to End Disputes Over Obi’s 2027 Campaign
The UK Coordinator of the OK Movement, Adebayo Brown, has urged the NDC Presidential Campaign Council and the Obidient Movement to resolve their disagreements and concentrate on mobilising support for Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 elections.
The United Kingdom Coordinator of the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, popularly known as the OK Movement, Adebayo Brown, has cautioned leaders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Campaign Council and the Obidient Movement against fuelling divisions among groups supporting Peter Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition.
Brown made the appeal on Tuesday, urging the groups to put aside their differences and focus on grassroots mobilisation, organisational coordination and preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The disagreement followed claims that Obi, the NDC presidential candidate, and his running mate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, had distanced themselves from the OK Movement.
Reacting to the controversy, Brown criticised the Global Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr Moses Paul, for engaging in public disagreements with the OK Movement rather than concentrating on strengthening his organisation.
He argued that the approaching elections required strategic planning and effective coordination, warning that internal disputes could weaken efforts to mobilise support for the presidential ticket.
Brown also questioned Paul's authority to speak on behalf of Obi and Kwankwaso, insisting that claims about the politicians' relationship with the OK Movement should be supported by clear and verifiable communication.
He maintained that the OK Movement did not regard either the Obidient Movement or the NDC as an enemy, stressing that all the groups shared an interest in supporting the presidential candidates.
Brown also defended the OK Movement’s National Director-General, John Ughulu, against allegations that his involvement in the organisation was driven by personal interests. He urged him to remain focused on strengthening its structures.
However, the NDC Presidential Campaign Council spokesperson, Dr Constance Ikokwu, dismissed the controversy as a distraction, saying the campaign was concentrating on its immediate responsibilities.
Similarly, Chidi Iloamaeke, media aide to Paul, said the Obidient Movement coordinator was not a member of the OK Movement and was focused on his responsibility to mobilise support for Obi.
Iloamaeke urged eligible Nigerians to participate in the 2027 election and vote for the NDC presidential candidate.
The disagreement comes amid earlier tensions between the NDC and the OK Movement over the latter's decision to establish an independent 59-member presidential campaign council, which the party had disowned.
