Ogun Releases Free Ambulance Hotline, Offers 48-Hour Emergency Treatment

The Ogun State Government has advised residents to save its dedicated emergency ambulance number, 08112000033, to ensure faster access to medical assistance during road accidents and other emergencies.

The government said the ambulance service was free and that accident victims transported through the system were entitled to free medical treatment for the first 48 hours at designated government health facilities.

The advisory, shared on Saturday through the state's official communication channels, encouraged residents to call the dedicated number directly whenever they witnessed or were involved in an emergency requiring ambulance assistance.

It explained that although Nigeria's national emergency number, 112, remained an important contact, calls could require assessment and transfer to the appropriate state response agency, potentially causing delays.

According to the government, contacting the state's ambulance service directly could reduce communication delays and enable local responders to receive emergency reports more quickly.

Residents were urged to share the number with family members and friends, noting that prompt access to emergency services could make a significant difference in saving lives.

The state has an established emergency medical response system operating across its 20 local government areas, with conventional ambulances, tricycle ambulances for hard-to-reach communities and boat ambulances serving riverine locations.

The government has also maintained a 24-hour emergency call centre to coordinate ambulance deployment and patient referrals.

It reiterated that timely reporting of emergencies was essential to ensuring that responders could reach victims and provide immediate medical attention.
