Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, have expressed condolences over the death of the state’s Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi.

The FRSC Ogun State Sector Command announced Ogunjobi’s death on Sunday, October 18, following a brief illness. The command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Route Commander Afolabi Odunsi, disclosed the development.

In a condolence statement issued through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, Governor Abiodun commiserated with the Corps Marshal and the national leadership of the FRSC, as well as the management, officers and personnel of the corps across the country.

The governor also extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and professional associates, describing his passing as a painful loss to the road safety community and the country.

Abiodun said Ogunjobi’s commitment to road safety administration, public enlightenment and stakeholder engagement reflected the importance of dedicated service in protecting lives and property.

He noted that the late sector commander contributed to efforts to promote responsible road use, improve compliance with traffic regulations and make roads across Ogun State safer for motorists and other users.

The governor added that the officer’s death was particularly painful at a time when the collective efforts of road safety personnel remained important in reducing road crashes and protecting citizens.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of Ogunjobi’s soul and asked God to grant his family, colleagues and associates the strength to bear the loss.

The Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ, Ogun State Council, also expressed sorrow over the development in a condolence letter signed by its Chairman, Yetunde Fatungase, and Secretary, Hakeem Adegbenro.

The chapel said its members had worked closely with Ogunjobi and could attest to his leadership, dedication to duty and commitment to the FRSC’s mandate.

It commended his efforts in public enlightenment, media relations and engagement with stakeholders to improve road safety across the state.

According to the association, Ogunjobi was an accessible administrator who recognised the importance of cooperation between the press and the FRSC in promoting safer highways and saving lives.

The chapel recalled that the late commander had recently acknowledged a letter concerning a courtesy visit by its members, describing his professional approach and willingness to engage with journalists as qualities that would be missed.

It extended its condolences to the leadership and personnel of the FRSC’s Ogun State Sector Command, the national leadership of the corps and the deceased’s immediate family.

The FRSC said further details concerning funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.

Ogunjobi’s death has drawn tributes from government officials and members of the media, who have highlighted his contributions to road safety administration and professional engagement during his service.
