Summary:

Abuja, November 5, 2026 (GNA) – Olujuwon Obasanjo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 after joining the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement as its Special Adviser on Political Affairs.

Olujuwon made the commitment on Wednesday during a visit to the movement’s headquarters in Abuja, where he was received by its National Coordinator, Sunday Adekanbi Asuku.

He was subsequently taken on a guided tour of the facility to familiarise himself with the organisation’s structure and operations.

Describing his appointment as an honour and privilege, Olujuwon commended the movement for its grassroots mobilisation, community outreach and efforts to promote the activities of the Tinubu administration.

He said he had followed the organisation’s activities for some time and was impressed by its work, adding that he was prepared to contribute to its objectives and the President’s re-election campaign.

Olujuwon said Tinubu had started his administration on a good note, urging Nigerians, particularly young people, to support the ongoing reforms and ensure continuity in governance.

He identified salary payments, infrastructure development and investment opportunities as areas where the country had made progress, arguing that the gains should be sustained.

He expressed confidence that continued support for the President would enable the administration to consolidate its achievements and deliver more benefits to Nigerians.

The younger Obasanjo also disclosed that he had been a member of the All Progressives Congress since 2014.

Addressing possible political differences within his family, he explained that members were allowed to hold independent political views and pursue their political interests without hostility.

Earlier, Asuku welcomed him to the movement, describing him as an experienced political figure with a strong background in leadership and governance.

He expressed confidence that Olujuwon’s experience and understanding of political mobilisation would strengthen the organisation’s activities and expand its reach across the country.

Asuku added that the movement expected him to contribute his knowledge and experience towards advancing its objectives.

The development comes as political groups intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election, with supporters of Tinubu organising campaigns to secure his re-election.
