Obasa Expresses Confidence in Hamzat’s 2027 Lagos Governorship Bid
Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, has endorsed APC governorship candidate Obafemi Hamzat, expressing confidence in his ability to deliver on the promises outlined in his manifesto.
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has expressed confidence in the ability of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, to lead the state if elected in 2027.
Obasa made the remarks in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Research, Media and Documentation, Adeshina Oyetayo, following the formal presentation of Hamzat’s manifesto at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Iganmu, Lagos.
The manifesto, titled The Lagos P.R.O.M.I.S.E (Ileri Eko), outlines the candidate’s policy priorities across seven areas: People First, Renewal, Opportunity, Machinery of Government, Inclusion, Security and Resilience, and Everyday Dignity.
The Speaker described the document as a practical development blueprint reflecting an understanding of the state’s opportunities and challenges.
He commended Hamzat’s educational background, experience in public and private service, and exposure, expressing confidence that these qualities would enable him to sustain and build on the state’s development efforts.
Obasa said the candidate had the competence, character and determination to reshape Lagos State’s socio-economic development.
He noted that the manifesto addressed key sectors, including transportation, environmental resilience, flood and waste management, housing, security, healthcare, education and economic opportunities.
The document also emphasises continuity, accountability and measurable outcomes, with proposals to consolidate existing infrastructure projects, including the state’s rail network.
Obasa said the inclusion of implementation timelines would allow residents to assess the candidate’s performance against his commitments if elected.
Hamzat, the incumbent Deputy Governor of Lagos State, is the APC candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
