Northern Region Will Vote Massively to Re-elect Tinubu — Yilwatda
APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda predicts strong northern support for President Tinubu’s re-election, citing infrastructure projects, political inclusion and government initiatives.
National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that Northern Nigeria will deliver massive support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Yilwatda spoke on Saturday in Abuja during the inauguration of the secretariat of Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A), a political support group mobilising support for the re-election of Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
He predicted that the North would support the President’s second-term bid, arguing that his administration had implemented infrastructure projects and other initiatives across the region.
“Today is the day for us to renew a mandate that was largely supported by the North, and the North again will largely support the return of President Tinubu for a second term,” Yilwatda said.
The APC chairman identified Shettima’s position as Vice-President as one of the reasons northern voters should support the administration, describing the joint ticket as a symbol of inclusion across religious and ethnic groups.
He also cited road construction projects, including the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano corridor and roads linking parts of the North-East, alongside the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline.
Yilwatda urged political leaders and party members across the region to mobilise support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, arguing that the administration’s projects and appointments demonstrated its commitment to northern Nigeria.
He further called on attendees at the event to support the President’s re-election, saying the region had several reasons to maintain its backing for the ruling party.
Vice-President Shettima, who attended the unveiling of the campaign headquarters, also spoke about the need for accountability, transparency and measurable results as the administration seeks another mandate.
The gathering forms part of growing political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election, as the APC works to consolidate support across the country and opposition parties explore strategies to challenge the ruling party.
Yilwatda’s prediction represents the APC leadership’s expectation of northern support; the actual distribution of votes will be determined by voters at the election.
