NiMet Forecasts Three-Day Rains, Sunshine Nationwide

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecast a combination of sunshine, cloudiness, thunderstorms and rainfall across different parts of Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday.

NiMet, in its latest weather outlook, said sunny skies with patches of clouds would dominate the northern region on Monday, while isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rainfall were expected over parts of Taraba State in the afternoon and evening.

For the North-Central region, the agency forecast cloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine throughout the period.

It also predicted cloudy weather with periods of sunshine across the southern region, with chances of thunderstorms and light rainfall over parts of Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.

Later in the day, moderate rainfall was expected over parts of Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Lagos, Edo, Delta, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.

On Tuesday, NiMet forecast sunny skies with a few patches of clouds across the northern region, with isolated thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall expected over parts of Taraba State later in the day.

The North-Central region is expected to remain cloudy with intervals of sunshine, while similar conditions are expected across the southern region.

The agency also forecast thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall over parts of Ondo, Osun, Ogun, Lagos, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Edo and Delta states.

For Wednesday, NiMet predicted sunny skies with patches of clouds across the northern region.

The North-Central region is expected to remain cloudy with intervals of sunshine, while the southern region would experience cloudy conditions with periods of sunshine.

Moderate rainfall is expected over parts of Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states later in the day.

NiMet warned that strong winds could precede thunderstorms in affected areas and advised residents to secure loose objects to prevent accidents.

The agency also advised Nigerians to avoid driving during heavy rainfall, disconnect electrical appliances during storms and stay away from tall trees because of the risk of falling branches.

With temperatures expected to remain high, NiMet urged residents to stay hydrated, wear breathable clothing and remain in well-ventilated environments.

Airline operators were also advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports from the agency to support effective flight planning.
