Nigerian Navy Warns Public Against Fake 2026 Batch 39 Recruitment Notice
Nigerian Navy dismisses viral Batch 39 recruitment notice as fake, warns applicants against fraudsters and unauthorised payment demands.
The Nigerian Navy has warned members of the public against a fake recruitment notice circulating on social media, purportedly announcing the commencement of its 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise.
The warning was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, who described the circulating notice as unauthorised and urged prospective applicants not to rely on it.
Folorunsho advised members of the public to exercise caution and disregard recruitment information obtained from unofficial social media accounts, websites and other unauthorised sources.
He said authentic information concerning Nigerian Navy recruitment, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and available categories, would only be communicated through the service’s authorised communication channels.
The Navy directed applicants to verify recruitment information through its official platforms before taking any action or providing personal information.
It also warned against making payments to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms in connection with recruitment, stressing that the Nigerian Navy recruitment exercise is free of charge.
According to the service, no third party has been authorised to recruit applicants or collect recruitment fees on behalf of the Nigerian Navy.
The warning comes as fraudulent recruitment advertisements continue to circulate online, potentially exposing job seekers to financial losses.
The Navy urged Nigerians seeking to join the service to remain vigilant and avoid responding to recruitment messages that demand payment, promise guaranteed selection or direct applicants to unofficial websites.
Folorunsho said the Navy remained committed to maintaining a transparent and credible recruitment process and would continue to provide timely and accurate information through its official communication channels.
The latest warning follows previous instances in which the Nigerian Navy has cautioned the public against fraudulent recruitment advertisements and unauthorised schemes targeting people seeking military or maritime careers.
The Navy said applicants should not allow the desire to secure employment to make them vulnerable to fraudsters posing as recruitment agents or officials.
Members of the public were therefore advised to confirm any recruitment announcement directly through the Nigerian Navy’s authorised channels before applying, paying money or sharing sensitive information.
The service reiterated that any legitimate recruitment exercise would be publicly announced through its official communication platforms, giving applicants access to accurate information and protecting them from fraudulent intermediaries.
Prospective applicants are expected to remain alert for further announcements and avoid unofficial recruitment portals or social media accounts claiming to represent the Nigerian Navy.
