Nigeria Unveils Squad for 2026 African Men’s Volleyball Nations Championship
Nigeria names a 14-man squad for the African championship in Tunisia, with qualification for the 2028 Olympics also at stake.
Nigeria has unveiled its squad for the 2026 African Men’s Volleyball Nations Championship, with the national team set to represent the country at the continental competition.
The squad features a blend of experienced players and emerging talents selected to compete against some of Africa’s leading volleyball nations.
The team’s selection followed preparations by the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, with coaches assessing players during training and competitive engagements before finalising the roster.
The federation said the selected players had been chosen based on their performances, fitness and ability to contribute to the national team’s campaign.
Nigeria will be aiming to produce a strong showing at the championship and improve its standing in African men’s volleyball.
The competition is expected to bring together leading national teams from across the continent, providing Nigeria with an opportunity to test itself against high-level opposition.
The coaching staff has continued preparations for the tournament, focusing on tactical organisation, physical conditioning, serving, blocking and attacking efficiency.
Players have also been working on team coordination as they prepare for the demands of the championship.
The Nigerian side will be hoping to make a deep run in the competition and challenge for honours against the continent’s established volleyball powers.
The tournament will also provide valuable international experience for younger members of the squad and help strengthen Nigeria’s volleyball programme ahead of future continental and international competitions.
The Nigeria Volleyball Federation has urged supporters to rally behind the team as the players prepare to carry the country’s colours at the championship.
With the squad now confirmed, attention will shift to Nigeria’s opening fixtures and the team’s preparations for its opponents.
The players are expected to enter the competition determined to make an impact and demonstrate Nigeria’s growing strength in men’s volleyball.
The championship will serve as another important platform for the development of Nigerian volleyball and the identification of players capable of representing the country at higher levels.
Nigeria’s delegation will now continue final preparations before the team begins its continental campaign.
