Nigeria Bounce Back in Quadrangular Reverse Fixture
Nigeria defeated Nigeria A by two wickets in the reverse fixture of the Nigeria T20 Quadrangular Series in Lagos, closing the gap at the top of the standings.
Nigeria defeated Nigeria A by two wickets in the reverse fixture of the Nigeria T20 Quadrangular Series at the TBS Cricket Oval in Lagos on Friday.
Chasing 113 runs for victory, Nigeria reached 113 for eight in 19.1 overs, securing the win with five balls remaining and recovering from their earlier 19-run defeat to Nigeria A.
Nigeria A, sent in to bat, posted 112 runs for the loss of all their wickets in 20 overs.
The victory reduced the gap between the two sides to one point, with two matches remaining for each team in the series.
Nigeria A had entered the fixture unbeaten after winning their first three matches, while Nigeria and Sierra Leone had three points each and Ghana remained without a point.
The quadrangular series features a combination of senior national team players and emerging prospects as Nigeria prepares for the 2028 T20 World Cup qualifiers.
The Yellow Greens are using the competition as part of their preparations for the 2028 T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional C Qualifier, scheduled to take place in Abuja from October 18 to 25.
Nigeria's national team has been in camp under High-Performance Manager Stephen Mangongo, who was appointed in May on a three-year contract with the Nigeria Cricket Federation.
Mangongo replaced Kenyan coach Steve Tikolo, who left the position earlier in 2026 after more than three years in charge.
The tournament is expected to provide the national side with further competitive exposure ahead of their upcoming international engagements.
