Newcastle United recovered from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Bournemouth at St James’ Park on Saturday, extending their unbeaten start under manager Matthias Jaissle.

Bournemouth took control early through Marcus Tavernier, who opened the scoring in the ninth minute.

The visitors doubled their advantage in the 35th minute when Newcastle defender Malick Thiaw turned the ball into his own net.

Newcastle responded almost immediately, with Harvey Barnes cutting inside before curling a fine effort into the net two minutes later.

The hosts pushed for an equaliser after the break and were rewarded in the 88th minute when substitute Jacob Ramsey finished to make it 2-2.

The result leaves Newcastle unbeaten after three league matches under Jaissle, while Bournemouth are still searching for their first Premier League victory under manager Marco Rose.

Bournemouth have now dropped points from winning positions in each of their opening three league games, becoming the first Premier League side to score first in all three opening matches of a season without winning any of them.
