NDPHC Expands Dedicated Power Supply to Businesses as Alaogi Restores 450MW
NDPHC is expanding dedicated electricity supply to businesses through its Eligible Customer Programme, while the restoration of 450MW at the Alaoji Power Plant is expected to strengthen power availability.
The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) is expanding its dedicated electricity supply programme for businesses as efforts continue to improve power availability across Nigeria.
The initiative is being implemented through the company’s Eligible Customer Programme (ECP), which allows qualifying industrial and commercial consumers to access electricity directly, providing more predictable supply for productive activities.
NDPHC Managing Director, Ms Jennifer Adighije, said reliable electricity remained critical to industrial growth, job creation and improved productivity.
She said the company was committed to expanding access to dependable power for businesses and reducing the operational disruptions caused by inadequate electricity supply.
The ECP is designed to enable eligible customers to receive electricity through direct arrangements, helping businesses reduce dependence on unstable supply and improve their energy security.
The development comes as the restoration of 450 megawatts (MW) at the Alaoji Power Plant is expected to add significant capacity to Nigeria’s electricity system.
The restoration forms part of ongoing efforts to recover generation capacity and improve the reliability of electricity supplied to consumers.
NDPHC said dependable power remained essential to strengthening Nigeria’s productive sectors, particularly manufacturers and other businesses whose operations depend heavily on electricity.
The company has also been implementing other initiatives aimed at improving power supply to productive users, including the Light Up Nigeria Project.
Adighije said sustained collaboration among power-sector stakeholders would be necessary to address infrastructure limitations and build a more resilient electricity system.
The company said improving access to reliable electricity would help businesses reduce downtime, increase production and create opportunities for further investment.
The expansion of dedicated supply is also expected to complement broader Federal Government efforts to establish reliable electricity corridors for industrial and commercial centres.
The government has recently intensified moves to provide dedicated power to industrial clusters, including a pilot 24-hour electricity project at the Idu Industrial Estate in Abuja.
NDPHC said it would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to strengthen electricity infrastructure and improve supply to businesses and communities.
