The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has secured the conviction of 248 drug offenders in Delta State, while 223 other cases are still pending before various courts.
The development was disclosed by the agency as part of its ongoing efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking and abuse in the state.
The NDLEA said its operations had also led to the arrest and prosecution of suspected drug offenders, with several cases progressing through the courts.
The agency has continued to intensify efforts to disrupt the distribution and trafficking of illicit substances through arrests, seizures, investigations and prosecution.
The pending cases are expected to proceed as the agency works with relevant authorities to ensure that suspected offenders are brought before the courts.
The NDLEA has repeatedly urged members of the public to support its campaign against drug abuse and trafficking by providing useful information to law enforcement authorities.
The agency also continues to emphasise prevention and public awareness, particularly among young people, as part of measures to reduce the demand for illicit drugs.
