NCA Leader Urges Christians to Invest In Dangote Refinery Shares
Northern Christian Association Chairman Joseph Hayab has urged Christians to participate in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s ongoing public share offer, describing it as an investment opportunity rather than a religious issue.
The Chairman of the Northern Christian Association (NCA), Rev. Joseph Hayab, has urged Christians to participate in the ongoing Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
Hayab made the call at a media parley in Kaduna, saying religious considerations should not discourage Christians from investing in the refinery.
He said the public offer should be viewed as a business and investment opportunity rather than through a religious perspective.
According to him, ownership of shares could help individuals build wealth for their families and future generations.
He encouraged Christians to consider purchasing shares for their children and grandchildren, while urging church leaders to promote a stronger culture of investment among their members.
Hayab said greater participation in investment could also strengthen the financial capacity of churches, noting that many people depended mainly on salaries and had limited investment portfolios.
He disclosed that, as NCA chairman, he had directed members of the association to create awareness about the Dangote share offer in their churches.
Hayab also said his call was not limited to Dangote, stressing that Christians should be willing to invest in other legitimate businesses and opportunities.
He argued that broader domestic ownership of businesses would enable more Nigerians to benefit from economic activities and contribute to national development.
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO comprises 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at ₦525 each, with a minimum subscription of 10 shares valued at ₦5,250. The offer opened on September 14 and is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026.
Hayab further called for consideration of an extension of the offer period, saying public awareness about the investment opportunity was only beginning to increase.
He also urged northern Christians to participate in businesses owned by entrepreneurs from the region, noting that Dangote was from northern Nigeria.
The NCA chairman's comments come amid wider efforts to encourage retail participation in the Dangote Refinery IPO, which is aimed at broadening ownership of the petroleum refining company among Nigerian investors.
